Acrobat Reader DC 64-bit (any version include latest version as of Jan 10, 2022) Based on our findings a C# or C++ ATL/MFC 64-bit program when using AcroPDF ActiveX control will hang. This issue is that control should be running in-process as is did for Acrobat Reader 32-bit but it actually is running out-of-process.
For instance, if I wanted to install Acrobat Reader, I would enter the following code (where Adobe.Acrobat.Reader.64-bit is the name of the 64-bit version of Acrobat Reader in Windows Package Manager): winget install Adobe.Acrobat.Reader.64-bit. The latest version of the application will be downloaded from the vendor’s servers and then installed.

I use Foxit Pro and Acrobat Reader to open and print large PDF files. Foxit pro is 64-bit and it performs way faster that Acrobat when viewing and printing large files.
